Oxyfuel technology

Nebb Engineering AS has main focus on oxyfuel technology. This is the only option that captures ~ 100 % of produced CO2. Another advantage with the oxyfuel technology is that nitrogen does not take part in the combustion process, and therefore no NOX are produced.

Figure 1 shows a simple definition of an oxyfuel power process:

Oxygen + Fuel = Power + CO2 + Water

Figure 1: Oxyfuel power process definition.

A block diagram of an oxyfuel power process is illustrated in Figure 2.

Oxygen is extracted from air in an air separation unit (ASU) and combusted in a gas turbine. The energy in the expanded gas turbine exhaust is recovered to a steam turbine cycle.

The oxyfuel exhaust gas is a mixture of mainly CO2 and steam. By condensation of the water in a separation unit, the CO2 is extracted. The CO2 is then further pressurized in a compressor unit.
